Inception of ANEA
Workshop on establishing Aquaculture Research Network in East Africa held at Olasit Garden, Arusha, Tanzania from 23rd to 25th September 2015
20 Participants (Tanania, Uganda, Kenya)
The workshop was organised with the aim of:
- Reviewing the current state of aquaculture in East Africa,
- Identifying bottlenecks and priority areas of research, and to form a forum for aquaculture researchers for collaboration in research and dissemination of research results.
Participants came from Universities, Fisheries training colleges and research institutions in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. During the workshop prsentations were made on various tpoics as shown in the programme below.
At the end of the workshop the participants decided to form a forum named "Aquaculture Network for East Africa (ANEA)".
The purpose of this Network is promotion of aquaculture best management practices (ABMPs) and exchange of information. A working group was formed to spearhead the formation of the Network
The following were nominated to be interim leaders of the Network
- Sebastian Chenyambuga (Chairman),
- Julius Manyala (Secretary),
- Charles Masembe (Treasurer),
- Mathew Mwanja (member),
- Charles Ngugi (member) and
- Enock Mlaponi (member).
